So I have seen a few guides from cisco and some other players.
Wondering if somebody has come up with a best practise for internet facing routing, to be good netizen ..

Yes, tongue firmly in cheek. Alas, whilst blocking all ICMP is not best practice, it is sadly a more common practice than it should be.
