Hello all

CAIA is pleased to be hosting a Seminar presented by David Fullagar of 
Netflix at Swinburne University on Wednesday next week. David has asked us 
not to record the seminar for later dissemination so as to allow him share 
more information than he otherwise might be limited to.

Attendance at the seminar is free and no RSVP is required. Details of the 
seminar can be found below. Parking is available at one of the many carparks 
in the Hawthorn shopping precinct near the University

Title:    Netflix video delivery with Open Connect, a purpose built content
           delivery network

Speaker:  David Fullagar, Netflix

Abstract:

Netflix uses a purpose built content delivery network, Open Connect, to
delivery internet video to subscribers globally. This dedicated
infrastructure is paired with extensive use of third party cloud services
to provide the hybrid platform that supports the Netflix service. I'll
present an overview of various components of the system and discuss future
projects.

Biography:

David Fullagar has been Director of Content Delivery Architecture at
Netflix for the past 4 years. Prior to joining Netflix he worked in the CDN
group at Level 3 Communications, and earlier iterations at SAVVIS and Cable
& Wireless. He grew up in Canberra and studied astrophysics at ANU.
