[AusNOG] VoIP / SIP server for Amazon EC2

Hi Noggers,
Just wanted to get some experiences from anyone who's run a VoIP/SIP soft switch on Amazon EC2.
1) Does it run ok or does it really need a dedicated machine given it's a real-time application?
2) What are you running? I'm open to the platform used commercial/free etc. I just need a solution that works really well and major bonus points for one that has an API for easy provisioning of users.
