[AusNOG] Effect of Data Retention regime on smaller ISPs

I think the point is that in honesty, no one knows what is required because
the guidelines are vague. At a general level they are interested in log
retention for e-mail and RADIUS. The "encryption" requirement seems new
since the original proposal.

The results from the CommsAlliance survey has seemed positive; my
understanding is that PWC was overwhelming informed that the cost is much
higher to implement for smaller ISPs and that is part of the reason for the
senate committee's recommendation for "substantial assistance" for ISPs to
implement.

I'm still not in favour of this dumb dumb legislation, but I guess that I'm
happy that I've at least been heard.

Andrew
