Isn’t this similar to the ruling on region codes for DVD players, didn’t the FT already say you can’t impose region locking…

I guess another reason to use a VPN/Plugin/xxx

A new Australian ISP is integrating geo-blocking circumvention into its broadband service, allowing customers to access streaming services like Hulu, Netflix USA, BBC iPlayer and Amazon Prime.
When Yournet launches in August, customers will be able to sign up for broadband that allows users to instantly change the country they are supposedly surfing from.


Still a bit unclear on what basis this was shutdown in NZ, but in Australia at least none of this should be a problem.  Or at least until the “let’s ensure status quo, make sure we don’t have to evolve our business model” special interests pay the government to change the law to suit them.
