Matts : I made a mistake on the number, it still under 1000 in 5 years.
Skeeve : I think you’re right about the VOD. In france, a lot of cinema have started illimited access for around 15eur/month.
Rod : the law still in place because of lobbies, it was just a proposal.
During the debate, La Quadrature du Net (french internet association) had proposed to tax the customer around 5-10eur/month for the benefit of the right holders but it had never been done. It’s a bit expensive for some population and people who don’t really consume music as old person etc …
An other problem, is the public wifi which « must » be secure against IP rights. Some people doesn’t care but that law have really slow down the development of the free public wifi. Currently, I think only mcdonald completely respect the law.
