[AusNOG] Is TPG blocking everything to AS4851?

Hey Nicholas,

I suspect this issue is localised to the PIPE IX in QLD and then only some
peers.

It became obvious we didn't have an ARP record for the TPG peer
218.100.0.12. TPG confirmed they had an ARP entry for us, and resetting
interfaces/caches didn't resolve the issue. We had ARP entries for other
peers and also route servers - BGP was working fine. When we created a
static ARP entry for the TPG peer, it started working.

218.100.0.12 resolves to 24e9.b3b7.0800

Long term this isn't a solution, and I am still waiting for more
information as to why this might need to happen after having the connection
in place since 2006.

Additionally, I am not sure if we're unable to reach any other peers at
this time but many/most look ok but be wary if you implement this work
around.

Hopefully this information assists those of you whom are impacted.

- Ryan

Thanks Ross,

We are not too confident about restoring our PIPE Peering until TPG advise
what policies they have messed up. I'm guessing this has occured because we
are transit customers of AAPT, yet TPG seem to have our network over PIPE
Peering, and have started dropping transit customer traffic if traversing
peering exchanges.

At a guess at least.

Looks ok from here, passing at least SOME of TPGs network.
