[AusNOG] UPS Recommendations - Small office

Hi,

We use APC 3000VA here we have at least 2 in each rack and run then at 50% capacity and have a third in hot standby. These units are rack mountable but VERY heavy. We have had to get the inverters tuned in a few of them recently via APC support, never had an issue there.

I am not sure if they are selling 3000VA anymore

Really appreciate all the advice guys.

Just for some further information, two of the four switches are PoE and I was looking for something rack-mountable. It does really sound like APC is the way to go. I'll look into the power calculator and available models.
Such a good community, thanks again all.

We use APC all the way here. They just keep going and going without needing to be touched

Hi all,
Looking to pick up a UPS for a small office setup. Wanted to ask the collective opinion for advice or recommendations on what they recommend or have used in the past. Nothing too major, just enough to prevent short power issues (~15-30 minutes and above) and with the potential for monitoring. I've heard good things about the Eaton 5PX series and APC Smart UPS for small office setups.

Essentially it's just handling the power for:
- 4 Switches
- Firewall
- Server
Does anyone have any recommendations? (Off or on-list is ok)
Cheers,

Dugald
