I wonder what will happen when it lands in court. Currently the interceptions act is centered around law enforcement only with a valid warrant can request the communication to be collected. I know they have excluded service providers to allow the collection, however the high level may still show law enforcement only. So again to collect from service providers will take law enforcement and warrant and will have to be for specific data as the warrant must show probable cause.
For the other major parties they are too scared to oppose this as everybody will point the finger and intimate they are supporting terrorism.

guys get shafted
I cant believe all major parties (lib. Lab, Green) are bunch of spineless

They only remember small biz ppl when the election comes around...
