I normally use dhcp for everything local pointing to a local
forwarder/cache anything static configured is also pointed there.
That I point at the ISP first then I use google for the 2nd or third
host. Seems to work in general and if things go wonky with an upstream
everything keeps working albeit slower. A surprising number of times
though the ISP will fail and google will succeed in a resolution which
seems wrong.
