One word - extensibility. Radiator lets you change, adapt and extend
just about anything, with a zillion hooks for Perl. As far as I know, to
make any real changes to FreeRADIUS you need to be a C programmer (but
it is six years since I worked with FreeRADIUS).
If I had to go to TWO words, the second would be support. The authors
are Australian, it's an Australian product, and if you have difficulty
you can ring someone up. FreeRADIUS does have an extensive online
community, large amounts of documentation and is very widely used, so
I'm not sure how much of a difference this is in practice. We found the
company very responsive, but time has passed since the last time we
needed them.
Oh, and if you are lucky and/or ask nicely, the Radiator people might
send you a T-shirt!
Regards, K.
