[AusNOG] Gazal Telecom?

If I look at the Primary domain of an ISP or hosting provider and there DNS is hosted by someone else, the website is hosted by another shared hosting provider who is then buying that from a Dedicated Server company then I judge that as a bucket shop operation.

If I look at a website and it's on AWS I generally assume straight away they know what they are doing.

As dodgy as they sound so far (20 emails off-list with interesting information about them), I am not sure I agree with your basis of suspicion Nathan.

I've just moved half of my server infrastructure into Amazon AWS, including sticking my DNS servers in the Singapore and Tokyo regions (why? WHY NOT! ;-)

I don't think outsourcing your hosting infrastructure is the basis for thinking badly about people.

That said, sticking in on a $5/year webhost might give cause ;-)

My suspicion always starts when said company does not host their own website and THEN even more so when it appears it's on a shared hosting server hosted by another hosting company again.

I wouldn't by a coffee from them lol . . . .

Anyone heard of these guys?

http://www.gazaltelecomaustralia.com.au/

Just had them door-knock the home of one of my staff members (Seven Hills).

They said that the NBN is coming (which it is), and said, and I quote "They will be looking after the telecom services in this area".

They said the NBN should be coming in about two weeks ($77), yet strangely offered to install ADSL2+ ($50) plus Phone Line ($29.95) in the meantime until it is installed.

I don't really like the way they presented themselves as looking after the telecoms aspect of the NBN and the offer to install ADSL for a couple of weeks is extremely odd.

They also do not appear on the RSP list of NBNCo

Then I found this on Whingepool - http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1732913 - Seems they do a lot of door knocking.

Found this: http://www.gazaltelecom.com.au/attachments/Gazal_Infinity_NBN.pdf

I wonder what Tier 5 NBN means?
