[AusNOG] Network Graphing Tools

Dear All

We use a combination of network graphing software in our SOC and NOC as not one package deals with everything we require.

In general we run Catci for long term and 5 minute averages which gives us a global view for both Network, Power and Cooling.

We then run ManageEngine Netflow Analyzer (www.manageengine.com/products/netflow/<http://www.manageengine.com/products/netflow/> ) along with PRTG (http://www.paessler.com/prtg/ ) for 1 minute averages which provides fast updates of graphs including flow and interface information.

These fast updating graphs at a quick glance provide the team visual information on interfaces, source and destination, applications ports and protocols within the networks that we support and protect.

We also have lots of real time screens which includes Solar Winds, ping plotters, trace routes all of which provide real time visibility graphs along with a heap of custom scripts and our with ADS-M monitoring from NSFOCUS which drives our DDoS Protection services.

Hi,

I’ve been really hammering collectd + graphite + grafana lately.

Grafana is just a replacement dashboard for Graphite, being able to create graphs on the fly and apply various functions quickly is changing how we do some things now for the better, it’s very flexible and I can see why the devops crew have been talking it up for a while now.

We use Statseeker, but it's increasingly and maddeningly showing its age...

You can get quite fancy dashboards with the weathermap plugin. However, it is just painful to configure them.

Hi Guys,

We currently use Cacti for graphing of network links in our environment and was wandering if there is a better tool out there?
We find Cacti rather clunky and tedious to use and setup new devices interfaces.

Has anyone got thoughts on this?
