Definitely not a good thing as we’re coming up on the release of v7 which
has been sparking some discussion on their mirrorlist.

Google appears to have dropped all but their A record from the domain now
too.

Regards,

Anthony

This would make sense, I’m sure I saw RedHat acquired CentOS recently or
took over the project.

As long as it is in a transfer state the name servers cannot be updated,
for a .org domain this is typically 5 days. Though it’s possible to
expedite the process if the sending registrar releases the domain.

Looking at the whois information is likely redhat have taken
administrative control over the domain.

I gave redhat a courtesy call but couldn’t get passed their CS reps so
hopefully they have someone on list.

Once these DNS changes have finished propagating (all hell breaks loose),
I’m sure right people will notice or be notified.

If you don’t want to be affected I’d recommend creating a master zone for
centos.org based on the current caches on Google’s resolvers and deploying
this to your own resolvers if you can do so, until they have set the name
servers again.

Thats not good for anybody using any CentOS... as this means yum will no

I think its time we need an Australian master mirror and mirrorlists :D

Hi,

Not specifically network related, but this is a courtesy since it may
affect a large amount of noggers.

Name servers have been removed from centos.org and it seems to be in
transfer.
