For anyone interested it appears to be fixed at a little over 24 hours.
It affected some portion of Optus ADSL and cable and mobile customers
across most states and was apparently related to the HTTP proxy on
international traffic as overseas HTTPS and local content was
seemingly unaffected.
Optus took about 18 hours to publicly acknowledge an issue.
