In my backpack:

* Laptop and charger
* Bluetooth travel mouse (recent addition)
* Keyspan with adapter and rollover cable
* 4-5 metre Ethernet cable (I've had it for about 13 years, gets a little
shorter every year)
* Charging cable for my phone
* Note book and a couple of pens
* Paperclips (handy for getting to recessed reset buttons)
* USB thumb drive(s)
* Noise cancelling headphones and spare batteries!!!

Then one or both of the following tool kits:

* Screwdrivers
* Pliers and side cutters
* Sockets (usually only 2-3 sizes, 10mm used most often, 12mm IIRC handy
for unpacking large routers from their crates, the ones I encounter at
least)
* Scissors and box cutter
* Label printer and tapes
* Multimeter
* Crimping tool and connectors
* Cage nut tools
* Random other bits from time to time

And/or

* Mini OTDR/power meter/light source
* VFL
* Scope (digital)
* Cletop and cleaning pens
* Assortment of patch leads with different connectors
* Signal finder/direction indicator

Depends what I'm doing. Sometimes I mix and match tools from the two kits
depending on what exactly I'm doing and how much I feel like carrying
around.
