Hi Matthew

Depending on whether your client is wanting to make it publicly available - which might be an added bonus - (and whether or not they wish to broadcast in stereo or mono), they may find getting on to the Optus VAST platform simpler and more cost effective.

That way, all they simply use at each site is a VAST approved receiver and elementary audio processing gear at each transmitter (to avoid over-modulation). Commercially available VAST receivers seem to start at around $750, domestic at around $300.

Community Broadcasting Association, Sky Radio Racing, NIRS, United Christian Broadcasters/Vision Australia all use the platform and it is actually not bad audio quality wise - especially when one compares it to the old OPtus AURORA satellite platform.

I know little about what is needed from the main content point, but believe it is simply encoded onsite and is sent via a terrestrial data service to Optus' satellite head-end (Belrose?) that is used to "slot" your data into the right Audio channel.

As to cost - not known. I am not associated with Optus/VAST, just a regional installer who looks after around 10 sites on the Mid North Coast NSW for remote hands/1st respondent when things break! :-)

Regards,

Rossco

Hey Folks,

I have a client that has AM/FM transmitters scattered up and down the Eastern Seaboard. He is looking for the following information:

Transmission hardware included ( Transmit Satelite + Encoder )

Ability to stream MP3 Stereo Audio in stereo at atleast 192KB/s

Decoders Provided

I have been doing some googling today but have not found any company other than optus but that’s not a full satellite point to point service

Does anyone know of a company

Regards,
