[AusNOG] FREE NetFlow Software

Its not hard for people that want to learn about a technology to go to an appropriate forum. In relation to Netflow, one option is https://forums.manageengine.com/netflow-analyzer. That took me all of five seconds to find.

If I have questions relating to the kit I manage and I have a few from time to time, I find a vendor forum. I don't need to fill the inboxes of people that are managing complex networks that use this forum to announce and discuss issues of importance.

I like this forum because of the issues that people, like yourself, have to deal with. If a topic is about something I don't know, I research it. I don't just bombard a list that is at the top of my Fav'es because it's convenient. What I might do sparingly is email the person that brought up the topic, directly, to get a bit more information.

It's all about how to use the list.

And speaking of learning stuff, a certain person, lets call him Daniel, a few days ago mentioned individuals that were helping him out over email. That's great. So why didn't he individually email those people if hew already has a network? I'd suggest a lack of using the gray matter he was born with. Not very clever in my book.

I love learning about technology. But I'm also conscious of who or what it is I'm asking. I want to get ahead rather than everyone thinks I'm a boofhead.

Timothy

What? To move the email to your favourites folder or mark the email as important?

Seriously grow up Timothy, if you don’t like Daniel you don’t need to most on the list about it.
