For what it is worth the OpenACS maintainer had a bit of a vent-out -- http://sourceforge.net/p/openacs/blog/2014/05/funny-guy-considering-himself-opensource-ideologist-and-maybe-god-d/
The model of JavaScript for handling iNFORMs is very powerful, but I don't have any other production TR69 experience to counter with.
There is a wait/notify bug[1] that hit us a bit that was pretty hard to spot, attached a patch since the sourceforge site/patches/discussion forums have > /dev/null.
We only use it for NBN UNI-V services
