I would contend that if you work in network or ISP/systems operations
roles and can't readily convert from your own timezone to UTC and back,
you have bigger issues.
Most obviously, when working with people in other timezones, if both of
you can work back to UTC you have no issues. Also, anyone working
across multiple timezones will appreciate the consistency of UTC.
Heck, cutting my teeth on the helpdesk floor, handling abuse@ traffic
required readily converting timezones when working with email headers
and such...
Adding the option to select a local timezone is useful (and props for
doing so), but people complaining? :/
