I have been mightily  impressed with the amount of information from vocus.

UTC has been a pain but I would rather have relevant info then find out afterwards

I love seeing these types of notices.  They show an operator being transparent and prepared.

Reading Facebook posts Guam had a typhoon last week also.  It is the season and they almost never have impact, but they can be a risk particularly with the severity.

If only there was a forecast of idiots with backhoes :)

Please note that during the above window an upstream supplier has advised Vocus of a hazard condition for Australia-USA and NewZealand-USA submarine cables due to Hurricane Iselle and Tropical Storm Julio over Hawaii. At the moment, indications are that the most affected will be the Big Island (Spencer Beach Cable Station) and to a lesser extent Oahu (Kahe Point Cable Station).

The most likely impact to the cable stations would be loss of utility power to the facilities at some stage. However, as both sites have emergency plants and fuel supplies have been topped up, no loss of power is anticipated.

Vocus will supply further updates on this hazard condition as they become available.
