Dual rate 1G/10G do exist, just most people don't do it because of the cost
of them.

MLXe data sheets don't mention 1G/10G capability nor documentation, at
least for 24x10G LC so it's curious it works. I doubt a vendor would fail
to mention something like that unless there was good reason.
