[AusNOG] NBN RSP hardware requirements

Hi Alex,

I'm on the downhill run on a project similar to yours, booked in next week for the certification lab in Melbourne.

I focused on a local POI in order to provide WAN and internet services to our users, I didn't have a requirement for inter POI backhaul.
In order to deal with NBNCo directly you will need be a registered carrier with the ACMA (I didn't see NBNSP on the list).

You will also be required to sign a wholesale broadband agreement with the NBN, mainly boilerplate stuff but there is some strict insurance and financial requirements.

As for kit, it depends on what you are comfortable with and the products/features you will be selecting from NBN Co. i.e Voice and/or group/chassis diversity.

I was able to use a Cisco 1001 ASR (BNG), Cisco 2911 (MGMT) and 4 x Cisco 2901 (CPE).

There are a number of NBN Co guys that float on the list and can provide more specific details. There are also a couple of guys that have been through the process and were able to help out, trawling through the archives I found quite a bit of info.

Kind Regards,

Subject: [AusNOG] NBN RSP hardware requirements

Hi everyone, I started an RSP (NBNSP) which at the moment solely deals with AAPT NWB Layer 3 option for my customers.

I would like to start the next step towards dealing directly with NBNco.

First, I want to focus on a local POI and need some help to create a list of hardware to get this done as cheap as possible.

Also, I would like to know which companies are providing the backhaul to each POI?
