[AusNOG] Transit over Megaport - who?

Hey Brent,

I don't think it removes the cost of cross-connects, but it certainly makes
it a hell of a lot cheaper.

>From what one of the guys at MP told me, intra-dc will be $100/mth... which
when you look at places like Equinix which does Fibre at $290/mth - this
will essentially third that for permanent connections.

I'm not sure of the final numbers, but Bevan mentioned $20/day (as opposed
to $200/mth) if you only want a short term connection up and running.

The trick here will be for Megaport to automate this so smoothly that VxC's
are brought online VERY quickly.. perhaps even have non-active
pre-provisioned ones (with VLAN's, etc) between two points, ready to come
up at a moments notice.

The datacentres these Cross-Connect fee savings will help massively will be
places like Globalswitch with their insane install costs, ongoing monthlies
and maze of suites run by different people with different rules.
