Up until about 18 months ago, we'd always run 10Mb limit on our mailservers.

With more and more folk using Gmail, we ended up putting that up in late 
2011 to 35Mb, so that our users could always receive files from gmail (I 
wasn't 100% sure whether the gmail limit was 25MB of attachment, or 25MB 
of sent email, so we went with the attachment, and added 33% to cover 
MIME encoding..)
