Dear Sam

Following on from what Josh said, another option is to ask your provider to provide you a burst capacity charged in the 95th percentile model. This will give you greater capacity when needed and decrease the chances of congestion happening during peak times.

Kindest Regards

What you're asking is somewhat in the territory of trade secrets, but there are some fairly easy static things you can use, such as what james says. More details of how and what this impacts in your business and what exactly you mean by contention ratio would be useful.

Just so you know, scale plays a role in this, but it very much depends on the ratio as to how much scale actually matters.

If you want to take it to skype or something like that I've got 5+ years of data from all sorts of businesses at all sorts of scales that might help you narrow down those numbers.

Hi All
We are being moved from a layer 3 to a layer 2 scenerio by our wholesaler.
I am trying to find a formula where I can work out pricing for the "gb" values for a plan
What is the suggested contention ratio to keep a happy medium?

Please reply off list

Sam
