These are starting to become more common here in the US -

Connects to a standard POTS handset (and power), and is charged like a
landline - but the calls go over the mobile network.

Cost is roughly the same as a true landline.

No learning curve as it's exactly the same handset as for a landline.
Includes a battery so it can continue to work (for a while at least) during
a blackout.
