I was similarly a bit surprised to see a council doing this... but I'm
reminded of a quote that says that you know a technology is truly
successful when it is used in ways never imagined by the inventors
(c.f. Internet, HTTP, NBN).
This is just the thin edge of the wedge when it comes to how an NBN
can be transformative.
The other thread on the dedicated government NBN port hints at other
transformative possibilities. They may not even know exactly how
they're going to use it yet, but having a direct connection between
government services and every citizen has a huge number of
possibilities.
I know. Singing to the choir. But aint it a nice song?
