It's legitimate unless the myth is still propagating as recently as last week.

They have just completed a launch in NZ recently which is causing some interference witnessed by multiple amateur stations up around 2400MHz and 5800MHz 'apparently'.

Somewhere around 30 or so Balloons is what reports are saying.
