[AusNOG] 10G CPE (1RU?) recommendations?

I didn't say I supported selling CPE's to everybody but I understand the reasons a group may want to do it.

It's the same reason we supply standard image PC's to our users, control all our switches and don't allow people to install their own equipment in 99% of cases.....

Thanks,
Ayden Beeson

It also stops end user's having to worry about what Optics they need, equipment to run it, special requirements the provider might have etc etc. It also means links can be provided to end-users over Copper rather than Fibre, making end-user connections cheaper and easy for the customer.

It's also a clean demarcation point which is covered under service delivery assurance but is also more about knowing where the problem is when something goes wrong and who to blame.....

Thanks,
Ayden Beeson

No sure it's just for troubleshooting purposes. I'd say it's more about risk mitigation, service delivery assurance and protection of the network come to mind.
