[AusNOG] VPLS OSPF question

So what are the advantages of EIGRP over OSPF or IS-IS, that make the trade off of using a proprietary protocol verses open ones worth accepting?
IGRP had advantages over RIP, however, we now have OSPF and IS-IS. EIGRP had advantages when you were running multiple layer 3 protocols, such as IPX and Appletalk, but we're not any more. I understand that recent versions of EIGRP can concurrently support IPv4 and IPv6, but then so can IS-IS.
