Article means that the saving in power for this added complexity is $29/desktop/year!  Which is fairly small compared to the employee cost!  (Assuming 6000 desktops from the article).

I kind of feel that they maybe solving the wrong problem - is this an example of where traditional fixed desktops should be ditched for thin client with the desktop running on a VM cluster in a much more efficient way?  Especially if they're saying in the article that their fleet of desktops were really only active for 3hrs/day!
