Is a courier really going to provide much of a different service than
Australia Post - especially given that the exact type of service that was
used with AusPost hasn't been stated (it was "Express Post", but there are
multiple level of Express Post, including signature-on-delivery options.

Yes, couriers have their place, but if you think they are never going to
lose a delivery then you're very mistaken.
