Hi all,
At this stage we are not aware of any forced evacuations in the Brisbane CBD, or any news that Energex will be turning off the power grid. As it's already been posted, the QLD Police have advised that there are no forced evacuations taking place at this time.
We have reviewed information available, both from current flood maps and previous flood information from 1974, and have concluded that the PIPE datacentres in Brisbane CBD (DC1/DC2) and Fortitude Valley (DC3/DC4) are unlikely to be affected by current events.
At this stage our NOC is still manned, and will continue to be until it's unsafe to do so or staff need to return home.
If the situation changes we'll be notifying customers as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Andrew.

Brisbane flood situation
Police advise there have been no forced evacuations in Brisbane, as the flooding situation rapidly worsens.
We urge people to plan their journey home carefully, and to leave plenty of time to get home before water cuts off a number roads in low-lying areas.
Traffic is building as people do attempt to get home and ongoing rain is slowing journeys. All motorists are urged to drive to the conditions, take care on the road and avoid driving into floodwater.
The community is advised to listen to radio and news updates for further information and call 13 19 40 for more information on road closures. The 131940.qld.gov.au website is also posting information as it comes to hand.

Yes, I have been talking to family friends who work in the CBD,
They have been advised / escorted to leave the CBD and that the power grid is being shut down for their area.
Cheers!

We have just been advised that the local power utility will be shutting off an entire grid section of Brisbane CBD's power and have been told to turn off all equipment.
Luckily for us, we aren't a datacentre and are only having to shut down two servers in our local office.
After speaking with others locally, it appears it isn't an isolated issue - large sections of the CBD are being forcibly evacuated - no chances are being taken.

A lot of the Brisbane sites are showing low bandwidth versions due to the amount of visitors.
For updates on actual "flood damage" people can check:

I was about to suggest checking out www.ourbrisbane.com for updates and access to web cams but it's off the air. That can't be a good sign.

Hi,
Interested in any on the ground info about what's happening - anyone left in the CBD or especially Fortitude Valley and around the river who can comment? (I claim that this is very relevant to operations).
So far we've seen no significant loss of broadband sessions in Queensland.
