Bevan, well put, now to sit back and watch what changes in government
services occur in SA as a result.

Subject: Re: [AusNOG] iiNet to Acquire Internode
Notice people on the list saying it was a surprise. There was/is only one
natural acquirer for Internode and it was iiNet. With TPG's creep on the
iiNet share register there was a very real risk Internode's only natural
acquirer itself would be taken off the market. With Simon's commentary as to
his reasons in the media meant that if he was to exit for said reasons there
was rapidly closing window of opportunity to exit. And exit he did. Timed
to perfection.
Well done to Simon and MM. This is a marriage we all knew would happen,
perhaps about 10 years later than originally expected :) I'd like to say a
massive thank you to Simon and his management team at Internode
(particularly JSL, Daryl, Pat and Shaun), to many of the current and
previous tech guru's (think MMC, Mark, Daryl etc.) for their contribution to
this industry and supporting so many others, particularly competitive
infrastructure players and not just PIPE, but ETSA, Nextgen, Amcom etc..
It is the end of another era.
Cheers

PS: I think MM should send the guys at TPG a Christmas card
