This analogy represents the entire problem with this debate.   A
business class seat is simply not 'necessary'.  It is not a need.  It's
a luxury and rarely any productivity benefit would (where you sleep on
long haul flights) justify the additional expense.  Therefore, on a
purely economic basis (or productivity and/or social equity basis) it is
an efficient means of deploying capital.  The same applies for HD
teleconferencing in the home.
