(I've seen a mailing list ruined by OT posts getting out of control.
Who'd have thought you'd see a huge discussion about the existence or
not of God on a Linux user group mailing list ... the problem was
eventually solved by creating a "-talk" mailing list, however at that
point it was too late IMO. I personally had found other forums to
participate in where topics of conversation were kept on track, and I
suspect others did too.)
