Hey Dasmo,

Was entirely tongue in cheek, as denoted by the smileys.

If something like that did go to court, it'd likely be thrown out pretty quickly. Kinda like taking some one to court for putting your name and phone number online taken out of the whitepages.

I don't think the issue would be the contact details themselves, but them not likely WHY Karl might be posting it in the first place.

That's totally bad advice.

Legal proceedings don't need much to go on and can ruin you financially without being deemed successful. Just post a link to a page that does whois and tell them the type the things in.

Unless they have no money, then they can't really afford lawyers and you can do what you like.

If its available in the public whois database, its public information. You can post it anywhere without fear of *successful* legal proceedings ;)

If they are doing something you think is bad or dishonest, out them :D

Hey Noggers,

this is probably just another silly question, but I am having a dispute with someone over them claiming that whois information is private information about their company and thus I can't post it anywhere I want.
Ie, post the whois with a comment on a public domain / forum.

I claim that this is indeed public information and can be used by anyone?

However I thought before I make a total idiot out of myself I would ask you just incase I am wrong and the details are infact "Confidential"

Cheers!
