Given the overall traffic this list generates (or lack thereof) it's
hardly going to hurt anyone (and if you're not sorting lists into their
own mail folders giving you 1500 messages a day in your inbox, that is
not our problem)

RSVP's to the list?  Well, someone may end up going simply because
someone else they know pops up their hand as to attending, so I see
nothing wrong with it.
