MEDIA RELEASE
ISOC-AU SUPPORTS VOLUNTARY CODE
The Internet Society of Australia (ISOC-AU) welcomes the Government’s
announcement to support the Internet Industry Association (IIA) to develop
a voluntary code of practice on blocking access to child pornography.
President Tony Hill said the Government’s announcement is consistent with
the ISOC-AU approach of a more comprehensive policy on cyber-safety which
includes the critical elements of education – for children, their parents
and their teachers, and continued cooperation with law enforcement
agencies.
The Internet Society of Australia (ISOC-AU) is a non-profit society
founded in 1996 which promotes the Internet development in Australia for
the whole community. ISOC-AU is a chapter of the worldwide Internet
Society and is a peak body organisation, representing the interests of
Internet users in Australia.
