[AusNOG] [off-topic] Sydney dust storms

I'm in Broome so it doesn't affect me directly but in a few months it'll be cyclone time!

I just checked the aviation forecast. Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sydney are down to one runway and average visibility reported as 500metres with severe turbulence below 10,000'...that much dust can't be good for jet engines, or IT gear!

If the dust down there is as bad as the pindan dust we get here, it gets into EVERYTHING that's not 200% sealed.

We weren't impacted in any way (other than a few dirty cars), but I'd be interested to hear how the CBD-based DCs fared.

Regards,

Chris

Don't worry it's here in Brisbane.

But appears no where near as bad as Sydney looking at some photos.

Has it affected any DCs yet?

I know some dust storms can play havoc with smoke detection systems.

Hi everyone,

Sorry for off-topic post but you might know someone who's affected by
this, apparently it's on it's way to QLd:
