When the average AS-Path length to reach any destination on the Internet is
only 4.68, the only reason for that many pre-pends is total lack of clue.

Or perhaps they are advertising from some different points in the globe, for
let's say, redundant DNS, for example, and balance everything everywhere
worldwide using prepends.

There are many people out there (even inside AU) who fail at understanding
that LPREF beats pre-pending, every time. Unfortunately they still think
that with 500 bazillion pre-pends they will never see traffic on their
metered backup link.....
