Correct, except for a few WAN connections in the carrier area where the
power is protected by EPG but not UPS (most carriers install their own
UPS gear in their racks but some only do it for DC and not AC).

The Soul data centre and core network was unaffected (UPS and EPG did
their job). There were some carrier services at Kent Street and at GPT
which did not handle things well (out of Soul's control and I won't name
the carrier).

Hey all,
Would some people like to report on the performance of any Sydney City
DC's that were effected during the outage in Sydney yesterday?
I can think of some that might have been effected by the outage.
Soul in Kent St
PowerTel in Clarence St
Pacnet in Bond St
Key Telstra exchanges like Pitt St, Kent St?
I know BrennanIT's DC went offline due to "Diesel generator pump
failures"
As far as I know Globalswitch, MCI/Verizon, Optus were not effected on
Pyrmont - or they did very well.
It would be interesting to know what DC's were and weren't affected, and
how they coped.
Maybe this is a good up-sell time for people who operate colo in the
major DC's.
