Hi Narelle, at the moment the ALAC has a Liaison (non voting) who is
elected by the ALAC each year to the ICANN Board and that role is
currently filled by Wendy Seltzer from NARALO,  (each At-Large
Structure (ALS such as ISOC-AU there are currently 124 ICANN
accredited ALSes fairly evenly distributed across the 5 geo regions )
is grouped into 5 regions AP, AF, EU, LAC, NA (just like the NIC's)
called Regional At Large Organisations (RALO) each under an MOU with
ICANN and the ALAC (a Bylaw mandated Advisory Committee to the Board
of ICANN) which I currently Chair, is comprised of 2 appointments from
each RALO n=10  + 1 person appointed per region, by the ICANN
Nominating Committee n= 5 giving a total ALAC of N=15...
However  if the proposals and recommendations from the ICANN Board
Governance Committee's ALAC Review Working Group are accepted when
sent to the Board later this year then At-Large (the ALSes / RALO's)
will be asked to appoint (mechanism tbd) two (or one if the proposal
is diluted) full ICANN Board Members ...
So from an AusNOG point if view, we are really more correct (
specific)  if we state that ISOC-AU like other ALSes is aiming at
having a similar role in the appointment of candidates for ICANN Board
seats as currently exist for influence from within your group into the
ASO AC  outlined below...
