Hi Skeeve,
It's totally transparent. http://as4.cluepon.net has some example
configurations showing how.
The only problem for your upstream when their routers cannot support
4-byte ASNs is when they want to apply different AS based policies to
different 4-byte ASN BGP peers - kinda hard to tell the difference
between them when they are all AS23456 (the transition ASN).
But anyone and everyone today who is running BGP is quite happily
passing 4-byte ASNs around, whether they know it or not. :-) Just look
for AS23456 in the AS path.
