What about applying a "guard voltage" - 10kV @ a few milliamps ought to be enough to ensure the tech has difficulty pulling those jumpers off ;)

Applying a guard tone to SHDSL would be a clever trick. The PSD for
SHDSL
includes the voice band (which is why you hear noise!)

I'm not sure about the guard tone but if you listen across a line that a
Hatteras is connected to (either with a bud or a tone test kit detector)
you will hear a LOT of noise. It should be obvious to anyone testing
those lines that there's something on it that's not voice, but that
doesn't usually stop people..

IIRC the Hatteras CO units have the ability to apply a "guard
