[AusNOG] Carrier Independent Peering Exchange

I don't think anyone is expecting TPG to rock up on the first day, set fire
to all the IX gear, and then dance around the fire naked. I only speak for
myself, but part of the appeal of the IX in the past, and the reason I've
used it, is that the money I'm paying for peering isn't going into the
coffers of my competitors.

The purchase of PIPE by TPG may be seamless and perfect for years to come,
but for me, it doesn't change the reality that I'm funding a competitors
growth and profitability. Not something I like doing unnecessarily. If a
satisfactory competing industry-run/neutral IX comes to fruition, then it
would be unnecessary for me to pay TPG for peering, and I would undoubtedly
move away.
