I have been through this process using a MultiTech
iSMS<http://www.multitech.com/en_US/PRODUCTS/Families/MultiModemiSMS/>
gateway
and i'm looking at going to an outsourced solution.
I would recommend Nexmo  <https://www.nexmo.com/pricing/> due to the fact
they have a decent sms rate and a low 'virtual number rental' of $4/m.
