Same here. I have some customers using either "mail.bigpond.com" and "smtp.telstra.com" on retail and TID tails; all getting the same result. Unable to relay mail via Telstra's SMTP servers. Postfix is claiming "Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=smtp.telstra.com type=MX: Host not found, try again" but doing a manual session to "smtp.telstra.com" from a TID service works fine (both unencrypted TCP/25 and encrypted TCP/465).

Currently no work-around and I can't really see anything amiss in DNS either. Hmmm the very same circle of pain as the one I have.

The PBL list stuff was noticeable after I dropped smtp.telstrabusiness.com from the postfix config.
I have a client using smtp.telstrabusiness.com as a smarthost - and he's seeing "451 4.4.0 DNS Query failure" in his Exchange server logs.
The server itself can resolve that address, though, so it's a bit of a mystery.

My temporary solution was to switch the send connector config from smarthost delivery to direct delivery via MX. Changing the various DNS configurations (external DNS, hardcoded DNS etc) did not work. I have not yet tried putting the IP address of the smarthost in place of the name, that would probably work too.

Short of calling Telstra and hoping, I'm not sure I can do much else.
