<p dir="ltr">The only way I can think of to get to 10 bits per byte is on an async serial link with combinations of non-zero numbers of parity and stop bits, and that wasn't common in my time dealing with dealing with serial. N, 8, 1 was or 9 bits in total.</p><div class="HOEnZb"><div class="h5">
